Abstract

Fokienia hodginsii is one of the most important tree that were cultivated for timber in south of China. Since 1950’s, a large area of plantation of Fokienia hodginsii was planted in Fujian province. In order to provide scientific basis on the other studies and management about it, we studied the nutrient cycling of Fokienia hodginsii plantation in 1997. The results showed: the nutrient cycling was different among the different ages of Fokienia hodginsii stands. The uptake of 10, 20, and 30 years old Fokienia hodginsii plantation was 69.85,96.65,67.02 t/(hm 2·a); the return was 20.15,35.04,35.20 t/(hm 2·a); the retention was 49.70,61.25,31.82 t/(hm 2·a) respectively. We used the ratio of yearly nutrient uptake to yearly biomass as the nutrient use efficiency, then the ratio of 10, 20, and 30 years old Fokienia hodginsii plantation was nearly same.
