This paper deals mainly with the environmental protection and management of Sand Lake, Ningxia, a well known scenic area for tourism in Northwest China. On the basis of the recent investigation, the environmental problems are fully discussed and analyzed. Some appropriate ecological measure are properly proposed against different pollutants such as coal ashes and dust, waste and poisonous gases or smoke of plants in the air, waste petroleum products and different forms of garbage on the ground or in the soil and water . Thus the natural landscape resources of Sand Lake scenic area can be well protected for sustainable development.
