Abstract

Based on the investigation and analysis data of the survival ratios, leaf area, seedling height and caliper, and biomass of 1-year-old seedlings of clone Nanlin-95,Nanlin-895,Nanlin-1388 clone, and NL-80351 clone, the growth characteristics and seedling quality under different planting densities were studied. The results indicated that the leaf area, stem and leaf biomass, and caliper of seedlings of all 4-poplar clones increased with the decreasing of culture density.Leaf area index at the planting density of 40 cm×40 cm was the highest, and the seedling biomass of unit area raised when the culture density increased. The seedling quality of low planting density was obviously higher than that of high culture density. The first-rate quality seedlings of clone Nanlin-95 and Nanlin-895 were in the largest amount at the density of 40 cm×50 cm,while those of clone NL-1388 and NL-80351 were at the density of 50 cm×50 cm.According to the seedling quality and quantity, the suggested planting density of these 4 clones was 40 cm×50 cm.
