Abstract

Betula alnoides is a valuable tree species in tropical and warm Sub-tropical areas in Southeast Asia and China. The rooting ability of cutting was studied in this paper with different concentrations of root-inducing powder, different lignifying degrees of cutting, multiple mediums and various provenances. The results showed:ABT-1 root-inducing powder with 600 mg/kg+IBA 600 mg/kg is optimal for summerwood cuttings,ABT-1 800 mg/kg+IBA 800 mg/kg for half-lignified cuttings, and ABT-1 root-inducing powder 1 000 mg/kg+IBA (1 000 mg/kg) for fully lignified cuttings. The root-forming ability with 100% red subsoil among 3 mediums and of M_(16) among all provenances in 3 rooting indices are respectively best.
