The research on the frost heave and thawing settlement of frozen soil is discussed,the current researches on mechanism for freezing heave,thawing settlement,numerical prediction models and preventions from freeze-thaw harm are summarized,the shortages of current study on freeze-thaw action of frozen soil are dissertated,and the direction of the study for the future is expected.The author also puts forward that in the future the theoretical and experimental research on the couple of water,heat,force and displacement of freezing heave should be made,the more reasonable and resultful prediction models of freeze-thaw action should be founded,the software on predicting freeze-thaw effect should be developed,the experimental and engineering verification should be strengthened.
