Abstract:
In this paper, six good Catalpa bungei trees in Nanjing were selected as male parent and two good C. burtgei trees il3Lianyungang 5untai tnountain as female parent. The hybridization pollination test was carried out. The quality of the byhrid seed uas analvzed. The resuhs indicated that low temperature and moderate drying was heneficial to pollen storage. It had high fructification rate by the way nf holding anther to point pistil ehapiter and very low fruoctification rate hy the way of pollen mixing water spraying. The latter method is not suggested to be used in practice, Different mature hybid fruit had significant variance in capsule length and capsule handle length. The seeds from different fruit also had notable difference in length, length to width, thousand seeds weight, plumpness and germination percentage, hot they had no significant variance in seed width, Phenomenon that hybridization seed were empty often happened. The full seed percentage in total seeds was between 1. 35%--17. 89%. The germination percentage of hybrid seed was between 0--14. 71%, and a part of hybrid seeds failed to germinate.
