Abstract:
By Intensified Conventional Schedule with Unidirectional Raising Temperature in 82 type drying kiln with fans located on the lower side, rubberwood could be dried more rapidly. It only took 16 hours and 36 hours respectively to dry 2cm boards from 60% m. c. to 10% m. c., and 5×5cm squares from 45% m. c. to 8% m. c.. Drying 3.8cm boards from 47% m. c. to 10%m.c. took four days by heating for 12 hours in day time and stopping heating at night. The quality of the boards and squares dried in the above three tests all came up to first class standard. This means that the drying time was reduced to one third to one fifth as compared with other rubberwood producing coun tries.Problems that should be paid attention to in the rapid drying of rubber-wood as well as the advantages of the Intensified Conventional Schedule with Unidirectional Raising Temperature are also discussed in this paper.
