The variation in contents of IAA, ABA, GA1+3, ZR during the dormancy and germination of seeds of Paeonia lactiflora was measured in outdoor sowing and in 5℃ cold storage. The result showed, in open field, the contents of ABA of the seeds declined rapidly when hypocotyls began to grow and the contents of GA1+3 were from peak to low during the initial process of epicotyls growing. With the development of embryo, IAA and ZR contents were increased. In 5℃ cold storage, the seeds failed to germinate and cold storage could not reduce ABA contents. GA1+3 contents increased first and then decreased. The contents of IAA and ZR in 5℃ cold treatments were obviously lower than that in open field.
