摘要:
<正>桂花是我国的十大名花之一,素以香花著称,盛开时“花开万点黄”,香味浓郁,传得远,似飘在空中,又似近在眼前。桂花虽不甚美丽,但它“独占三秋压众芳”,深得广大人民和骚人墨客的赏识。花期不长,但不限于秋季,除严寒酷暑外,都有花陆续开放。花有白色、橙红色、金黄色、淡黄色等珍贵色泽。它寿命长,病虫少,适应性广,是常绿阔叶树中较耐寒的一种。栽培品系繁多。随着我国园林事业的不断发展,桂花必然日益引起人们的重视。为此,作者对桂花的名称及其在南京地区的品种进行了初步调查,写成此文。
Abstract:
Sweet osmanthus is one of the ornamental plants most favoured by the Chinese people and has been specified as one of the ten famous flowers inC hina. Out of the 32 species now found in the world, China has 26, mainly distributed in southern and oouthwcstern China. The author of this paper has made an preliminary study on the cultivation history of sweet osmanthus as well as its species and varieties. The paper gives a general description of the shapes and characteristics of sweet osmanthus of thirteen varieties cultivated in Nanjing, providing a basis for further study of their selection and cultivation. The author also offers some suggestions about how to develop variety resources of sweet osmanthus and how to investigate its cultivars and types.
