The selection of appropriate speed of rotation of the band saw wheel is closely related to the increase in production and the improvement in quality of lumber and to the decrease of electricity consumption.The author measured the degrees of roughness of the lumber surfaces, cutting errors and the electricity consumption per unit area of lumber resulted from various speeds of rotation of the band saw and accordingly calculated the proper rotational speed of the band saw wheel, the feeding speed and the sawing high critical value, which may serve as a reference to units of production and scientific research.
