Analysis of linkhanging basket in cablestayed bridge using finite element method

The linkhanging basket as a platform to hold all loads was lighter than the traditional basket. To ensure the security of the cantilever construction, the spatial element model was necessary to be built. In this paper, the ANSYS shell element was used to analyze the stress and the deformation of the basket at different conditions. The apparent space effect of the linkhanging basket was taken into consideration. The computational results was in consistent with those from the field tested. It also showed that the optimal design was reliable and the operational performance could meet the construction requirements.
