Abstract: The author expounds the part played by physical education in the country’s massive drive to achieve the four socialist modernizations. It can be summaried as follows:1. To win honour for the country and inspire patriotism.2. To advance mass physical education and raise national heath level.3. To develop physical education in schools and help to turn out morally intellectually and physically qualified personnel.4. To improve physical education in armed forces and enhance fighting capacity in the defence of the country.5. To strengthen national unity and promote friendship with other countries.
