Abstract: This paper deals with the mathematical models of bamboo crowns of Phyllostachys pubescens. Based on seventy bamboo culms collected from Yixing Field Station, Jiang-su, eight mathematical models and twenty regression equations have been worked out by statistical procedures. For total number, length, nodes, leaves and weight of various branches in a bamboo crown, there are:Model I . T(x) = aDtxe Model I. T(x) = aDb(7-x)c and four regression equations: 1 . Total number of various branches in a bamboo crown.2 . Total length of various branches in a bamboo crown.p,. Total nodes of various branches in a bamboo crown.4 . Total weight of various branches in a bamboo crown. For the discontinuous distribution of number, length, nodes, leaves and weight of various branches at certain branched node of a culm, there are:For the cumulative distribution of number, length, nodes, leaves and weight of various branches at certain branched node of a culm, there are:Parameters, of twelve regression equations listed as follows:Main Side Small Least Weight of Weight of P. branches branches branches branches branches branchesLeaves With leavesT(x), x = 2 3 4 5 6e= 20.0 15.0 19.0 15.0 12.0 12.0f= 1.18 1.27 1.15 1.35 1.42 1.37For the component distribution of number, length, nodes, leaves and weight of various branches at certain branched node of a culm, there are. Component distribution of weight of various branches in a bamboo crown.
