Abstract: The great achievements of wood drying technology in China since the founding of P. R. China are reviewed in this paper. Different types of drying kilns and conventional and high-temperature dr- ying schedules were developed. Forced air drying,direst fired and gas indirect heated drying,dehumidi- fication and vacuum drying have been researched and commercially transferred. New situation, prob- lems and the methods to solve them faced by the wood drying industry are analyzed. The tendency of wood drying technology development and the key points of research of wood drying technology are in- quired in the paper.
