Abstract: The research results have been summarized on the interaction between tree roots and soil environment.The author analyzed impacts of physical and chemical factors of the soil such as soil temperature,moisture,nutrients and CO 2 on the root growth.Meanwhile,the effects of soil stress factors like Al 3+ ,O 3,salt and drought on the root systems was also investigated.It was discussed on action patterns and mechanisms of roots on the soil micro environment,including the role of root secretive and that of fine roots in nutrient cycling.Finally,several important research topics have been suggested on the interaction between tree roots and soil environment.They could form the basis for the further physiological and ecological studies on the interrelationship between tree roots and its growth and yield formation.
