Abstract: An inventory for mangrove was carried through with combining remote sensing(RS),geographic information system(GIS),global positioning system(GPS) and fields investigation together in 2001 in the coast of Guangxi,western Beibu gulf.This paper deals with the distribution,community type structure and forest structure,such as crown density,tree height grade,etc.,regarding administrative division as the unit.The results indicate that the mangroves are distributed equably along the coast in a general way,74.4% of mangroves are location before the seadike,Aegiceras corniculatum,Avicennia marina,Kandelia candel,Aegiceras corniculatum and Avicennia marina,Aegiceras corniculatum are the dominance communities,61.9% of their crown density are higher than 70%,and 78.1% of their average height is lower than 2.0 m.
