Abstract: An investigation of forest communities in various districts was conducted in Nanjing Forestry University. The results revealed that 91 families, 245 genuses, 603 species were recorded in this area. Compared with the investigation in 1952, 1976, 1982, the species were decreasing sharply in the campus. There were less species and simple structure in the plantation and the road greenbelt. The species diversity index for different strata of forest in NFU was in the order: herb＞shrub＞tree. The diameter ranges of the trees were between 8cm and 24cm. The strategies are proposed as follows: (1) to enrich the species diversity; (2) to refine the function of campus forest and integrate the ecosystem; (3) to exert the function of the community, keep healthy ecosystem; (4) to make campus forest accord with urban forest to establish a high-qualified manrpement system.
