GENETIC AND ECONOMIC GAINS OF THE SEEDLING SEED ORCHARD OF CHINESE FIR

摘要: <正>一、引言 人类为增加林产品的收益,在认识和利用树木种内有益变异方面,有着悠久的历史。早在数百年前,我国的杉木及日本的柳杉造林,就使用经过选择的优良类型或个体的种条。欧洲在十八世纪初也已应用经选择的种子造林。但是有关专门为生产种子而营造林分的想法,1787年始见于文献。十九世纪初Anderson(1906)和Oppermann(1923)分别发展了关于建立林木无性系种子园和实生种子园的思想。1934年Larson在《林木育种》的论文中比较完整地提出了无性系种子园的概念。到本世纪四十年代后期,“林木种子园”这个概念已为越来越多的人所接受。六十年代有了较快的发展。但在这个时期中,主要是采用优树无性系嫁接繁殖建园。

Abstract: In this paper the authors present some results of nearly twenty years studies of the seedling seed orchard of Chinese Fir in terms of their realized genetic and economic gains.The seedling seed orchard was converted from a progeny testing plantationand the seedlings were grown from open-pollinated seeds collected from selected plus-trees. The expected genetic gains for height, diameter and volume were 18.24%, 18.43% and 30% respectively after three times of roguing, i, e., eliminating poor individuals (when they were seven years old), selecting superior families (when ten years) and selecting best individuals in selected families (when thirteen years old). The realized genetic gains of the seedling seed orchard (a three years old open-pollinated progeny testing plantation) was a little less than the expected. But there was no significant difference between the gains of the progenies from the open-pollinated seedling seed orchard and the progenies from the clonal seed orchard, both of which were estabilished at the same time with the same plus-trees and it’s open-pollinated progenies.On the contrary, a comparison between the economic gains of the seedling and the clonal seed orchard shows that the former was negative (-27), and the latter was very desirable (1:47).Therefore, generaly speaking, the seedling seed orchard of Chinese Fir does not seem practicable in the commercial point of view.
