Abstract: The influence of the application of manure of organic waste in forest land on the quantity of earthworms was studied in the paper. Based on the survey in the forest applied with different amounts of manure of organic waste, earthworms Eisenia fetida and Metaphire sp. were found, and the number ratio of them was about 1.78:1. The number of earthworms was closely related to the amount of manure of organic waste applied in the forest. For example, the number of earthworms and the amount of manure spreading in the forest was positively correlated in Laogang and Jinshan sites. However, under the application of groove fertilization for manure, the correlation between the amount of manure and earthworms was not clear, resulting possibly from the uneven distribution of the manure. When applied with manure of organic waste, the increased amount of earthworms will accelerate the decomposition of organics and thus promote carbon and phosphor recycling in the underground environment, which is beneficial for the forest ecosystem.
