The heavy metal pollution is one kind of urban environmental pollutions.The absorption and purification of urban forest on the heavy metal pollution is an important research topic.The loblolly pine was imported from U.S.A.Its high biomass shows that it should be good to the absorption and purification on the urban heavy metal pollution.The loblolly pine plantation was studied in the suburb of Nanjing.The samples of the roots,trunks,skins,leaves and branches of the loblolly pine were collected in January,April,July and September.The various layers of soil in the loblolly pine plantation were also collected.All the tests of the various organs of plant samples and soil samples were conducted with ICP4 300DC made in U.S.A.The tests lead to the several results:(1)The contents of heavy metals are different in different organs of the loblolly pine.The contents of all heavy metals are higher in roots and the lowest in trunks.The contents of the elements except Cr and Pb are higher in leaves and branches,and lower in skins.(2)The contents of heavy metals vary with the seasons of a year in different organs of the loblolly pine.The study shows that the seasonal variations on the distribution of different heavy metals are as follows:All elements except Mn have the highest contents in root in July.The highest contents of the elements except Cd in the organs above the ground are not in July,but in January or in September.(3)The pool amounts of heavy metals in loblloly pine plantation are as follows:Cd:8.048 mg/m2,Cr:16.757 mg/m2,Ni:40.607 mg/m2,Pb:164.803 mg/m2,Mn:1 234.786 mg/m2,Zn:423.967 mg/m2.They varyed with different organs for different heavy metals.(4)The accumulation indexes of heavy metals in different organs of loblloly pine are different.The comparison of the accumulation indexes of heavy metals in different organs of loblloly pine shows that the absorption ability of the organs to the heavy metals is:Cd,Zn,Mn,Pb,Ni,Cr.
