Abstract: Artificial production experiments were made to determine the optimum period of mating and exposure for the laboratory production of Tetrastichus nigricoxae with Antheraea pernyi pupae as hosts(host pupa: parasitoid ratio=1:100). The results showed that when the mating time of wasp 48-72 h after exiting the host pupae, parasitism capability such as parasitism rate(93.3%-94.2%), eclosion rate(87.5%-90.8%)and average number of offspring per host(1 010.4-1 213.3)were significantly higher than that of wasp which mating time were 24 h(p<0.05), 0 h and 96-144 h(p<0.01). The parasitism(87.5%-95.8%), eclosion(86.7%-95.8%)and average number of offspring(1 274.5-1 365.6)were significantly higher than other exposure time(p<0.05). When pupae were exposure for 2-3 d. Considering the effect of wasp age to parasitism, the optimum period of mating and exposure for the laboratory production were 2 d after exiting the host pupae and 2-3 d respectively.
