Abstract: Based on the open source GIS platform architecture, we learned from the latest forest resource management information system (FRMIS) developing technology at home and abroad. To solve the shortcomings among current commercial GIS component such as high developing cost, poor openingup and low developing flexibility etc., we developed a GIS system framework of Yuntai Mountain on the two major development platform i.e. MS.NET Framework V3.5 and Map Win GIS open source GIS components. By integrating AXMap controls and functional interfaces, we implemented the basic GIS functions and customized the spatial data editing module. On the other hand, by using data exchange middleware technologies, we built the postgre SQL/Post GIS spatial database following the seamless linkage programming on the logic layers. Furthermore, we packaged the GIS mapping function control on the MS GDI+graphics library to extend the spatial capability of the traditional graphic interface. Our study explored a lowcost, high openingup and flexibility model of forest resources management information system development. It would provide certain significances to the development of forestry information modernization and make contributions to the relevant software industry development in the near future.
