Convenient computation method of settlement considering the existence of rigid ground

Abstract: Additional stress concentration occured in the subsoil because of the existence of rigid ground, and the settlement of upper layer will be influenced. The method of new code which consider the influence of rigid ground by enlarge coefficient of settlement can be used for reference. Through numerical simulation, the enlarge coefficients of different modulus ratio and different layer thickness are researched. Analysis result shows that the modulus ratio of upper layer and rigid ground has effect on settlement, and when h/b of settlement greater than 5.0, the enlarge coefficient is colse to zero.
