Abstract:

【Objective】Litchi chinensis is one of the most famous tropical fruits in southern China, with Conopomorpha sinensis as its most devastating insect pest. Great efforts have to be made to control this pest each year. Therefore, studying the control index and economic injury level could scientifically improve the control strategies for Litchi chinensis (litchi)fruit pests.【Method】In a litchi plantation in Sanmenpo Town, Haikou City, Hainan Province, the relationship between the number of adults and the rate of fruit decay was studied using the method of the whole plant coverage and artificial adult inoculation; the control group was set with no adult inoculation. The economic injury level (EIL) and control index of litchi fruit pests were calculated and analyzed.【Result】The results showed that there were significant differences in the rate of litchi fruit decay between treatment groups and the rate of litchi fruit decay increased with the augmented adult inoculation. The highest average rate of litchi fruit decay was 55.75%. The regression equation between the number of adults inoculated and the rate of fruit decay was y=13.442x-1.484, R2=0.983 5.【Conclusion】There was a positive correlation between the rate of fruit decay of litchi and the number of litchi fruit pests. Meanwhile, the economic injury level (EIL) was 2.27% per plant and the control index was 0.28 pairs per plant.
