Abstract

【Objective】 The study aimed to enrich the biodiversity of Hainan Province and China, and explore the resources of parasitic natural enemies, by collecting Encyrtidae among nine cities and counties of Hainan Province. 【Method】 More than 1 000 specimens, collected using a yellow plate trapping in Hainan Province, were examined under stereomicroscope. As a traditional method, morphological characteristics were based for a taxonomic study. 【Result】 One species was discovered to be new to science. Morphological characteristics of the adult female were described in detail with characteristic photographs. Differences among closely related species were discussed, and a key to Palearctic and Oriental species was provided. 【Conclusion】 The new species was named as Zaplatycerus hainanensis sp. nov., and the genus was first recorded in China.

Key words
