
Taxodium ‘Zhongshanshan 111’ and ‘Zhongshanshan 125’: new cultivars of Taxodium

Taxodium ‘Zhongshanshan 111’ and ‘Zhongshanshan 125’: new cultivars of Taxodium
【Objective】Taxodium was used for its excellent tolerance to waterlogging and had a great ecological and economic potential.The selection and breeding of excellent variety was of great significance for the development of this genus.【Method】In this study, an artificial pollination crossing between Taxodium mucronatum × T. distichum var. imbricatum was performed and the progeny was observed and selected.【Result】‘Zhongshanshan 111’ and ‘Zhongshanshan 125’ were two new varieties, which had excellent characteristics, such as good tree trunks, fast-growing, waterlogging tolerance and beautiful landscape effects.【Conclusion】The two elite varieties can be planted in the wetland, beach and plain of the Yangtze River basin, the southeast coastal and inland areas.
