Abstract:

【Objective】 Osmanthus fragrans is loved by people because of its evergreen leaves all year round and rich fragrance. Breeding new cultivars of Osmanthus fragrans can promote the development of the Osmanthus fragrans industry. 【Method】 Using seedlings as breeding materials planted in Yongfu County, Guilin City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, a Distinctiveness, Uniformity, and Stability (DUS) test was performed on clone progenies of the single plant found. 【Result】 The leaf color of the new cultivar ‘Nanlin Caijin’ changes distinctively, and the young leaves gradually change from dark purple to water red or yellowish-brown at the initial stage. Subsequently, the leaves are yellow green, the petioles are purple black, and the shoots are red purple. 【Conclusion】 This cultivar has good heat tolerance, and different traits to the known color-leaf cultivars, whose period of ornamental leaf color is long, with outstanding ornamental potentiatilies for future markets.
