Abstract

【Objective】To explore the issue of rural cultivated land fragmentation (CLF) and its driving mechanisms in mountainous counties, promote the orderly utilization of cultivated land and coordinated rural development, systematically analyze the spatial characteristics and influencing factors of CLF, and explore synergistic pathways for cultivated land governance and rural development in mountainous areas.【Method】Taking Suichang County, Lishui City, Zhejiang Province as an example, this study is based on two dimensions: the overall rural areas and the regional rural typological differences. It combines the classification of regional rural development types with CLF assessment at the village scale, utilizing geographic spatial analysis, mathematical statistics, multiple linear regression, and geographical detector methods to identify the spatial differentiation characteristics of county-level rural CLF and analyze its multi-dimensional driving factors related to nature, resources, and policies.【Result】Suichang County exhibits significant spatial differentiation in rural CLF across the entire region, with a prominent concentration of low values, jointly influenced by slope, average patch area, per capita cultivated land area, degree of hollowing, and proportion of ecological red lines. There are obvious differences in CLF characteristics among different rural types, with per capita cultivated land area being the common key driving factor for CLF in all typological regions. The results indicate that CLF issues caused by topographic conditions, resource endowment, and spatial management policies are relatively prominent, with scarcity of cultivated land resources as the primary constraint.【Conclusion】In response to the complexity and regional differences of CLF issues in mountainous rural areas, this study constructs a spatial organizational system for the comprehensive utilization and governance of cultivated land, covering two levels: zoning management for the entire rural area and diversified regulation for regional types. This system aims to enhance the comprehensive remediation capacity and per capita cultivated land conversion efficiency in mountainous rural areas, providing a theoretical basis and practical references for promoting the diversified development of mountainous rural areas and the sustainable management of cultivated land resources.
