Abstract

【Objective】To enhance the genetic diversity of Torreya grandis in China, a male T. grandis variety with dual pollination and ornamental value was selectively bred.【Method】A variant individual was selected from male T. grandis seedlings, and its asexual progeny underwent DUS testing.【Result】The newly bred T. grandis variety ‘Shangfei’ exhibited characteristics such as a stout and short trunk, short internodes, leaves measuring 1.5 to 2.5 cm in length, 0.27 to 0.36 cm in width, 0.50 to 0.85 mm in thickness, and leaf angles of approximately 60° to 120°.【Conclusion】‘Shangfei’ features a compact plant shape and dense foliage, with abundant pollen production, making it suitable for landscaping and pollination.
