Abstract: 【Objective】 This study was conducted to improve the accuracy of forest carbon storage estimation on a regional or a national scale, which is helpful for monitoring carbon sequestration capacity of forest system.【Method】The carbon coefficients of different components of 80 Siberian larch(Larix sibirica Ledeb.)in Xinjiang were determined using an infrared carbon/ sulfur analyzer, and the average carbon coefficient was calculated based on measured biomass data. 【Result】The results showed that the carbon coefficients of stem, stem bark, branches, leaves and roots were 0.467 0, 0.485 1, 0.477 3, 0.474 3 and 0.476 8, respectively. In other words, the carbon coefficients decreased in the following order: stem bark > branches > roots > leaves > stem. The carbon coefficients of stem and roots varied with different parts, but the differences were not significant, and the dispersion coefficient was less than 1%. 【Conclusion】The overall carbon coefficient of the Siberian larch was 0.476 1. The carbon coefficient of stem bark was the highest in each component, and stem was the smallest. The dispersion coefficients of different diameter classes and age groups were not more than 7%.
