Abstract: Abstract: 【Objective】The genetic variation of Eucalyptus clones was studied. Superior clones with fast-growth, high-yield, and strong wind-resistance in western Guangdong Province were screened, providing scientific basis for breeding varieties of multiple species of Eucalyptus trees.【Method】The comparative experiment was carried out in Leizhou Peninsula. The growth, morphological performance and wind-resistance of 21 Eucalyptus clones were investigated. Firstly, variance analysis was performed for different traits. Thereafter, the genetic parameters, such as traits of repeatability, variation ratios, and related parameters were estimated. Lastly, a variety of traits were chosen comprehensively by using the selection index method.【Result】The significant differences were observed for tree growth, morphological performance, and wind-resistance of Eucalyptus clones. High genetic stability was observed for traits, including height, diameter, individual volume, under branch height, and crown diameter, while genetic stability for stem form and branch appearance were moderate(>0.5). Phenotypic variation ranged between 14.67% and 51.06%, while the range of genetic variation was 12.16%-44.53%. The variation coefficient of individual volume, under crown length, and crown diameter was larger than variation coefficient of other traits. There was a significant correlation between the height, diameter, and individual volume of Eucalyptus clones. According to the performance of each character, based on the selection index method, the clones 28#, 2# and JJ144 surpassed Eucalyptus 1#. 【Conclusion】After severe damage caused by typhoon, the clones 28#, 2# and JJ144 were selected based on their fine growth, morphological performance, and wind-resistance. These superior clones could be used as a basis for further selective breeding.
