Abstract

The authors of this paper have been successful in researching and making a new kind of weaving shuttle, i. e. the glue-moulded bamboo thread and wood powder shuttle, with a view of the present-day productive conditions in some textile mills at home, this paper investigates the relationship between the weight of the shuttle and powder consumption of the weaving machine, the thermophysical property of the material of the shuttle, the electrostatic phenomenon during weaving, and the service life of some kinds of shuttle made from different materials. The investigation indicates that the glue-moulded bamboo thread and wood powder shuttle is durable and has good technological properties which may give it a bright future in textile industry.
