Abstract

Based on a systematic investigation of hardiness, drought, tolerance, ecological characteristics of 28 species of elm in Changji of Xingjiang Province, a model of multileveled structures for the resources of the genus of elm has been constructed, with the help of references and indexes for stress resistance ,morphology and growth. 8 species of elm suitable to be planted as garden trees in plains of the northern part of Xingjiang have been suggested in terms of characteristics of drought tolerant trees involved in the genus of elm.
