Analyze temporal and spatial changes of forest vegetation in Three Gorges Reservoir area of western

Abstract: Through the establishment of forest vegetation cover index model, forest and lawn flow analysis model, forest vegetation center of gravity migration model, the temporal and spatial variation of forest vegetation in quantities,inner structure,types and spatial distribution features of the dynamic changes,were studied in detail over a tenyear period.The conclusions were:no significant changes were observed for the vegetation under inverstigation, changes were mainly concentrated in Northwest, especially in Xingshan county. Less change were observed in the east of Yiling district; the area of forest land decreased by 1 689 hm2, which mainly changed into grassland 574 hm2; the area of grassland was decreased by 1 024 hm2, which transformed into arable land 2 108 hm2; the center of gravity of forest land was migrated to the northwestern by 4.6 km, arable land was migrated to the eastern by 5.2 km, grassland was migrated to the east by 3.2 km.
