Abstract: The composition of waste newspaper is very complex and contains a mass of fine components and anionic trashes. This greatly influences the drainability of paper machine wire end and paper quality. The laccase/xylanase system (LXS) treatment of deinked waste newspaper pulp for removing stickies was investigated in this paper. The results indicated that:the laccase treatment of the deinked waste newspaper pulp could effectively remove the stickies in the pulp especially after alkaline extraction(LXS+E).As compared with original pulp, the stickies in pulp after LXS and LXS+E treatment at enzyme dosage 15 μmol/(min·g) decreased by 51.91 % and 68.43 % respectively. The load of removing stickies in the following processes was reduced and the pulp drainability was improved. As compared with original pulp, the beating degree of pulp after LXS treatment and LXS+E treatment at enzyme dosage 15 μmol/(min·g) decreased by 15.22 % and 28.26 % respectively. The strength of pulp with the two enzymatic treatment was improved, but the yield of pulp slightly decreased.
