Abstract: Fifteen kinds of rare earth elements(REEs)in nine varieties of green tea from Jiangsu province were determined by inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry(ICP-MS). The data was analyzed by SPSS statistics software to research the distribution patterns of REEs. The results showed that the concentrations of total REEs(TR), light REEs(LREEs)and heavy REEs(HREEs)in green tea were 0.917, 0.720, 0.197 μg/g, respectively. Enrichment of LREE in tea suggested higher biological effects of LREE than those of HREE. There was large fractionation between LREEs and HREEs.The distribution patterns of REE in green tea were similar to those of soils of Zhenjiang city and the mainland. Because the TR in green tea was less than 2.0 mg/kg, it’s safe to eat. The migration of REE along green tea from Jiangsu province showed no obvious biomagnifications. The research could offer a technological support for the quality control and classification of green tea.
