Abstract: The genus Macropanax, endemic to Southeastern Asia with its centre of specia-tion in Southwestern China and Vietnam, was established by Miquel in 1855. Since then, species recorded had not been more than two or three until the years when G. Hoo (1965), G. M. Feng & Y. R. Li (1979), Philipson (1979), and C. B. Shang (1980) published their new species and new combinations which made the number of species in this genus amount to eight. In 1983 C. B. Shang published five further species and a new combination from Vietnam. In addition to the brief account of the genus, a key to all the 14 species, including their morphological descriptions, distributions, ecological conditions and citation of the specimens, arc presented in this paper.
