Abstract: The fibre saturatin point (F.S.P) is the decisive factor in the main properties of wood i, e., wood shape, its mechanical properties and electric conductibility etc. F. S. P. of wood of coniferous. Pinus massoniana and broadleaf Castanopsis tibetana were measured seperately by drying-contracting, mechanical and electrical means resulting in values similar to the classical F. S. P. Research on these three new methods were also made. Based on experimental diagrams and calculated facts, a simple formula for the drying-contracting method has been obtained, which can not only cut down work hours, but also raise measuring accuracy. Advantages and disadvantages of the three methods have also been analyzed and compared in a systematic way.
