Abstract: The key to solve the problem of floating logs of heavy volume weight is to keep the necessary buoyancy of the log in the whole period of floating which can be expressed by the effective buoyancy and the time allowable for the log to float. This paper puts forward some drying and soaking test methods and results of logs of heavy volume weight of the typical tree species in Northeast, Southwest and Southeast China forestry regions adopted and obtained before the floating. Bassed on the analyses of the test results, comprehensive technical measures for rationally settling the problem of floating logs of heavy volume weight are suggested.
