Abstract: Crude arabinogalactan from larch wood sawdust has been extracted with warm water. The yield is 7.0?.2%; the chemical composition is Ash 1.09%, soluble in alcohol 5.19%, flavonoids 2.30%, galactose to arabinose unit ratio 4.07/1, uronic acids 4.49% and total sugars 93.20%. High purity arabinogalactan can be obtained by polyamide column purification.
