AN APPROACH OF WATERCOLOR TECHNIQUE TO SCENERY OF GARDENS

Abstract: The technique of traditional Chinese painting has always been adopted in drawing scenery of gardens. Recently, however, the use of watercolor to display scenery of gardens has gradually been increased along with the coside-rable progress of watercolor itself. Such watercolor paintings display the beauty of gardens, in which water and color are intermingled, showing transparent, easy, smoothy, brisk, bright and beautiful effects of artistry on its general appearance. This is widely accepted.Among the principles of a view setting and a picture composition, the law of the unity of opposites is of baric importance for painting scenery of gardens, with varied forms of compsition including front view, bird’s-eye view, leaping over space lattice, pushing on or pulling back focus and long scroll, with techniques of expression including sketch, light coloring, washing with watercolor, coverlapping, wet contamination, learing blanks and harmonizing huse.
