TANNINS AND RELATED COMPOUNDS FROM PLATYCARYA STROBILACEA FRUITS

Abstract: Platycarya strobilacea fruits were extracted at room temperature with aqueous acetone. Five compounds have been isolated from their extracts by using column chromatography of several types of gels. In accordance with chemical reaction, co-chromatography with authentic samples and ’H-NMR spectral analysis, four of these compounds have been identified as ellagic acid, gallic acid, pedunculagin and casuarictin; One of them remains to be identified.
