Abstract: The purpose of this article is to study the technology of high-quality granular activated carbon from Populus canadensis Moench and its branches. The process is as follows: firstly, the branches of populus are pyrolyzed into wood charcoal and crushed;then mixed by adding complex binding agewts so that high-quality granular activated carbon is obtained. The key technology liesin the use of complex binding agents and its special processes as well. The product has these properties: maximum adsorb ability of iodine 1354mg/g, methylene blue 16 mL/0.1g(240mg/g),benzol 34.8%,strength 95%,residue of roasting(ash)0.83%.These indexes have reached or exceeded those of activated carbon from coconut carbon. The production cost is much lower than that of coconut carbon, producing enormous economic and social benefits without any pollution to the environment.
