Abstract: The morphology and histology of internal reproductive systems of female adults in Clania var iegata are described. Compered with those of other higher lepidopteran species.the female internal reproductive orgsns of C.variegata have the following distinct features:the bursa copulatrix almost degenerates completely and two valves appear in the vestibulum.Tests show that spermatophore does not exist after copulation. However.the sperm bundles appear in the spermatheca in females. This indicates that sperm bundles are directly transported into spermatheca. It is the first species found in lepidoptera,in which spermatophore is not produced, but direct insemination is used.
