A Study on Water Conservation Capacity of Forest Soil in Huangqian Reservoir Area

Abstract: The paper deals with the role of the main forest soil types of locust plantation and Chinese pine plantation on interception of precipitation in Huangqian reservoir area.The results show that (1) for the soil permeability performance,the order of locust is:woodland,sunny slope Chinese pine woodland,shady slope Chinese pine woodland;(2)the ability of forest soil on recovering water conservation is strong,in 2 hours the recovering percentage can be from 17.1% to 22.1% of maximum retention amount,and this is equal to 20.5~33.2 mm of precipitation,in 4 hours the recovering percentage can be from 28.0% to 30.9% of maximum retention amount,and equal to 33.6~46.5 mm of precipitation,in 48 hours the recovering percentage can be from 42.6% to 57.8% of maximum retention amount,and equal to 60.5~87 mm of precipitation;(3)both for the surface runoff amount and soil erosion amount,the order is of sunny slope Chinese pine woodland,shady slope Chinese pine woodland,sunny slope locust woodland;(4)the bigger the precipitation amount is,the earlier the arriving time of ground runoff is,and the later the peak time is,under the same precipitation amount condition,the arriving time of ground runoff and peak time for different forestry type is different,shady slope Chinese pine woodland is latest,sunny slope locust woodland is later,sunny slope (Chinese) pine woodland is earliest.
