Abstract: Biological invasion constitutes a serious threat to species diversity:squeezing out in-\digenous plants and animals, making indigenous population disappearing, causing the extinction of high locally distributed species. The impacts of biological invasion on genetic resources are as following:|ocal population is fragmented, causing genetic drift and inbreeding;there is more chance that alien species can hybridize with local species, polluting the indigenous genetic resources; locally distributed wild plants and animals are disappearing, reducing the amount of genetic material. After the qualitative analysis of harmful impacts of invasive alien species on indigenous species and genes, statistic data from concerned government department and typical case studies are gathered, then economic losses in 2000 caused by alien species on species and genes are calculated. Loss caused by alien species on the potential reservation value of species is about 71 million yuan RMB,direct loss on agricultural genes is about 110 million yuan RMB.
