Abstract: A 250-year history of the plant classification of the genus Malus Miller was reviewed. After discussing the main taxonomic systems, and thoroughly studying the significance and the researching status of experimental taxonomy on this genus, the plant chemical taxonomy a’nd molecular systematic taxonomy were considered as the important additional evidences for the systematic study on this genus. And the taxonomic system of the genus was not a perfect one, more experimental evidences should be adopted to analyse it furthermore. Finally, the systematic evolutional ways were also discussed, South-east Yunnan, Southwest Guangxi, North Laos and North Vietnam were regarded as the origin center of this genus.
