Abstract: The meiosis rule of PMC (pollen mother cell) of Chinese fir (Cunninghamia lanceolata) male strobilus was studied by consecutively sampling and squashing. The results showed that the difference stages of meiosis existed among Chinese fir clones. Even different male strobilus in one or different positions on male strobilus had non-synchronization in the meiosis period of PMC. The stages of PMC of Chinese fir were closely correlated with the male strobilus size and color. It undergoes a series of changes: yellow brown, emerald green, green, brown, puce. The meiosis phases of PMC of Chinese fir have high correlation with the color transformation of the male strobilus.
