Abstract: China has the most abundant bamboo resources, and bamboo has been widely applied for landscaping and forest plantation. Bamboo rust brown spot disease had great impact on the value of bamboo. Through the survey of bamboo rust brown spot disease in Nanjing from March 2008 to December 2009, the disease primarily infected a total of 12 kinds of bamboo species that belonged to 3 genera. The occurrence of this disease was closely related to factors such as the plants under the crown of bamboo, bamboo growing status, bamboo species diversity and environmental conditions. The burst of disease reached to a peak from early to middle of July. Mite population declined during late July to early August. But during late August to early September, the temperature was still high while rainfall was reduced, mite population increased again. There were several generations in one year and the overlap of generations was very common. Based on the study, the occurrence and regularity of Schicotetranychus nanjingensis had been understood. This study supplied a desirable reference for controlling this disease.
