Study on preparation of rice straw particleboard using modified corn starch adhesive

Abstract: The rice straw particleboard was prepared using corn starch based polyme isocyanate adhesive, and the factors which affected the particleboard properties were investigated. The hot pressing parameters were preestablished as follows: density of particleboard 07 g/cm3, hot pressing temperature 160 ℃, hot pressing time 15 min and the unit pressure 35 MPa. The test results showed that the properties of rice straw particleboard prepared according to the following conditions (the mass ratio of rice straw to wood dust was 85∶15, the ratio of SBR/PVA was 70∶30, glue spreading was 25 %, and the PMDI addition was 3 %) could meet the requirement of GB/T 4897.3—2003.
